The problem with this amp was humming, cracking and power loss. In 40 years, there is almost no maintenance done, so it could use an overhaul. The supply and cathode bypass capacitors are replaced by TADs. The tube sockets of the power tubes were worn, so we replaced these also. New grid resistors. Some 100K resistors in the power supply where out of specs. All tubes are replaced...
The problem with this amp is occasionally no sound and pops out of the speakers, the front inputs are loose and the outputs / inputs on the back don't work. Here we have a Marshall JCM900- Model 4100. The problem was that the sound suddenly disappears. This was caused by bad contact in the send and remote connectors. The input jack was also bad, so we replaced it too. This amp had the original tubes from the 90's ! A new set Tung Sol tubes completes the job.
1955 Gibson Les Paul Junior. Only 2947 are made, so this amp is pretty rare. It was a lot of work to get this amp in top condition again. We replaced the tubes, tube sockets, input jacks, signal caps, speaker and some wiring. What a awesome sound!
This time no vacuĆ¼m tubes but transistors. Here we have a Sunn Concert Bass amp from the 70's. After 40 years it was time to replace all the caps. We also soldered some bad solder joints, adjusted the current through the power transistors and cleaned all the potentiometers. This amp sounds like new!
